A taste of New York

Celebrating the glitz and glamour that is New York City, Nieuw Amsterdam expands Holland America's premium-brand reputation by introducing new ideas and concepts to the world of luxury cruising. Nieuw Amsterdam now features 11 guest decks and staterooms, highlighting all the Signature of Excellence luxury. There are also wonderful spa staterooms with additional spa amenities.

So much to choose from ...

For starters, there's the new Silk Den lounge, with it's panoramic pool and ocean views, and the new pan-Asian Tamarind restaurant. Stumble into a wine-tasters paradise at the Explorer's Lounge bar, a luxury jeweler if you plan on 'popping the question' at dinner, or the just-renovated show lounge and the new atrium bar area. There's even an imaging and photographic centre.

Nieuw Amsterdam is a cruise ship that likes to show-off, and rightly so. Among the more classic Holland America features include outside-view, glass elevators amid-ships, cyber-coffee house the Explorations Cafe (powered by The New York Times). There are culinary demonstrations and classes at the Culinary Arts Centre,  presented by Food & Wine Magazine, or if you prefer dining and drinking to participation, the Pinnacle Grill and Pinnacle Bar will spur your appetite and slake your thirst, and if you want to bring the whole family, go Italian at Canaletto's Italian family-style restaurant.

Relax, get active, or socialise

From food to pure relaxation, Nieuw Amsterdam has a recently extended Greenhouse Spa and Salon, including a hydro-pool and thermal suites. For the body-conscious, there is a huge gymnasium - the largest in the Holland America Line - and for teens there is the teens-only Loft, perfect for making many new friends.
