The Mediterranean is one of the most popular cruising destinations in the world and it is easy to see why. With so many different cultures, landscapes, people and adventures just waiting to be discovered, the Mediterranean offers something for everyone whether it’s relaxing on the beach on a beautiful Greek Island, exploring the fashion in France or sampling the delights of Italian cuisine, the romance of the Mediterranean is unparalleled throughout the world.
Why cruise the Mediterranean?
The diversity of the Mediterranean makes it a fantastic place for a cruise and there is perhaps no better way to explore the Mediterranean than out at sea. With so many amazing countries located so close to each other, a cruise around the Mediterranean gives you the perfect balance of time at sea and excursions to explore the mainland. From a cliff-side taverna overlooking the deep blue Aegean Sea to a gondola ride through one of Venice’s canals, there is so much to see and do in the Mediterranean region that picking which countries to visit will be the hardest part of your holiday!
Choosing which countries to visit on your Mediterranean cruise will depend greatly on the length of your cruise. With so many countries located relatively close to one another around the Mediterranean, even a short one week trip can see you visit 3-4 different countries so planning your cruise to the Mediterranean should not be taken lightly. Mediterranean countries which you can visit include:
• Albania • Algeria • Bosnia-Herzegovina • Croatia • Cyprus • Egypt • France • Greece • Israel • Italy • Malta • Morocco • Monaco • Montenegro • Slovenia • Spain • Turkey • Tunisia

When is the best time of year to go to the Mediterranean?
The cruise season in the Mediterranean is now year round, however the best and most popular time to cruise the Mediterranean is the Northern Hemisphere’s summer between May and September which makes it a perfect time for those traveling from New Zealand and Australia to make the trip north to get away from the colder winter weather. With average temperatures in June and July hitting the mid 30s and rainfall limited to the occasional thundery shower, it is the perfect time to explore this fantastic part of the world.
